Foster parents provide care in their homes for animals who are too young, too shy, or too ill to go up for adoption. During the spring and summer the shelter takes in hundreds of young kittens who need to be fostered until they are at least eight weeks old. Throughout the year the shelter takes in mama dogs with nursing puppies, elderly/ill dogs and cats, and undersocialized dogs and cats who will not do well at the shelter. A few weeks or months in a foster home means the difference between life and death. |
