A Canine Hiking Club |
A hiking club for dogs and their owners (Kids too!) We organize fun and adventurous outings for dogs and their owners in the San Francisco Bay Area. Currently most of our hikes are in the South Bay Area. We will hike at least once or twice a month on the Peninsula and/or the East Bay. We occasionally offer walks in the afternoon and/or evenings and training sessions with a dog trainer. Our sponsors are businesses that offer their free time to organize hikes, walks and other fun outings for you and your dog. We are solely run by volunteers. The Adventure Dog Challenge: Coming soon! Also check out our website: TheAdventureDog.com A Fitness challenge for you and your dog! Our Hiking Adventures: We offer easy, moderate and strenuous hikes. The size of our hiking groups is 10 - 15 dogs and their owners. Most of our hikes will be on-leash (yes, the human will remain on the other end of the 6 foot leash), we will remove the waste according to the guidelines and we will ensure safety for all of our participants and our fellow trail users. Explanation of hiking levels: Easy hike: Elevation gain up to 200 feet at a leisurely pace. Moderate hike: Elevation gain between 200 to 600 feet. Leisurely to moderate pace. The hike will have more uphill (steeper) grades. Strenuous hike: Elevation gain is 600 feet or more. Moderate to vigorous pace. Longer distance with steeper hills. We abide by the local rules and regulations and support the trail etiquette that is set by the Open Space District and Santa Clara County Parks. We are a casual hiking club and we embrace the idea of having the privilege to be in the outdoors versus having a right to be there. We set an example of showing how dogs can excellently interact with other preserve/parks visitors like hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians. GeoCache Dog: We organize small group outings for our geocache fans. Novice or expert? Join us to find caches spread throughout the Bay Area. GeoCacheDog.com Our Training Adventures: Join us on a short hike to drain that excessive energy your dog has stacked up throughout the week followed by a training session and some individual time to discuss the difficulties with one of our dog trainers. Our motto: Exercise & Socialization & Training counts for all our members, canines and humans alike. Our sole purpose is to enjoy the outdoors with our companions. We focus on basic obedience and dog behavior on our hikes. This is what our current members are saying: "Great group of people and dogs" "There's nothing like taking a long, leisurely hike on a beautiful day through tall redwoods with your best friend." "Great opportunity for dogs to socialize, and people, too." "Great people. Great dogs. Healthy adventures." "The organizers and people are wonderful" "We're all wet nosed and waggie tailed!!! Good people, great dogs." "A good workout for both you and your dogs!" "Love it!" Like us on Facebook: |
